Most of the programs on the disk will not work without an JHApplied Engineering memory card installed (including PC Transporter and 0RamKeeper with any IIGS memory card attached).IGOn the disk you'll find the title program, AW 3 Expander. This is our KIenhancement program for AppleWorks 2.0, 2.1, and 3.0. The AW 3 Expander JHprogram adds to the features of AppleWorks by allowing you to have more OMrecords in the data base and more lines in the word processor, by giving you MKthe ability to time and date stamp your AppleWorks files, and by providing JHyou an easy way to save large files onto several disks. The program is NLdescribed in full detail in this file and in the instruction manual. Apple OM][ Plus users will want to turn to Chapter Two for instructions on modifying AppleWorks.MKRead over the appendices of the instruction manual or the end of this file OMfor a description of the other programs on the disk. We've included Apple's MKFiler--a copy program, Applied Engineering's Autocopy2--a program designed LJspecifically for copying files from floppy disks to RAM disks, and Bird's (Better 'Bye'--an easy to use launcher.OMKeep the disk handy so that when you add memory to your card(s), you can run MKthe included memory tests to verify that the chips were properly installed KIon your RamFactor, PC Transporter, Ram Express, RamWorks, GS-RAM, and/or JHZ-RAM. Each test shows a hi-res picture of the card being tested. Any LJchips that are bad or missing will be marked making it easy to locate and 2replace defective or improperly installed chips.MKSupport for our products is available from our Technical Support staff who HFare dedicated to answering specific technical questions about Applied JHEngineering products. However, please read the manual first; it's very OMlikely that it will have the answer to your question. Any suggestions about KIhow we can improve our hardware, software, or documentation are welcome; Cwe'd like to hear from you. Send any comments or suggestions to: Applied Engineering P.O. Refer to the manual for instructions.Bird's Better 'Bye'By Alan Bird of 'The SoftWare Touch'(619) 549 3091 FDThe AppleWorks 2 Expander disk contains a modified version of Apple NLComputer's ProDOS. It incorporates an improved 'BYE' command that lets you MKexit one System program and easily run another System program from a menu. .(e.g. APLWORKS.SYSTEM, BASIC.SYSTEM, FILER).KITo use this 'BYE' command, copy the 'PRODOS' file from this disk to your OMboot disks. Then, anytime you quit a system program (such as AppleWorks), a LJmenu of all the executable System files on that disk will be displayed on OMthe screen. This menu can also be called from the Applesoft BASIC prompt by entering the 'BYE' command. Sample screen display:. ESC: CHANGE VOLUME. RETURN: SELECT FILE /AW2.EXP PRODOS" AE.AW.SYSTEM# GSTEST.SYSTEM# RWTEST.SYSTEM# RFTEST.SYSTEMOMUse the up and down arrows to change the highlighted selection. The Esc key KIwill change the volume (disk) selection to the next on-line volume. The IReturn key selects the currently highlighted file or subdirectory name.IGSubdirectory names on the disk will be indicated by a '/' as the first character of the file name. !Autocopy2KIAutocopy2, included on the AW 3 Expander disk, is a program specifically LJwritten to copy files from a floppy disk to a RAM volume. You can create MKyour own quick-start disk using Autocopy2 that will automatically load the NLprograms of your choice into RAM every time you boot. Several examples are Fincluded in the documentation to help you create your own boot disk.OMThe program's documentation can be viewed within the program by pressing "?" MKas prompted on the screen. If you'd like a hard copy of the instructions, MKload the standard text (TXT) file, COPY.DOC, into a word processor capable of printing (e.g. AppleWorks).IGTo run Autocopy2, boot the AW 3 Expander disk and select the Autocopy2 MKoption from the main menu or run it from BASIC by typing -AUTOCOPY2 at the BASIC prompt (]).GS/OS Driver For RamKeeperJHA GS/OS driver for RamKeeper is included in the 3.5" version of the AW2 NLExpander Disk. This driver will replace the existing Smartport driver when MKRamKeeper is used with GS/OS. The advantage is less overhead when reading LJand writing blocks to RamKeeper. This results in about a 20% increase in FDspeed of the RamKeeper disk. Note: If the driver finds more than 8 LJMegabytes of memory, it will not be installed due to a problem between it and the RamKeeper.LJTo install the driver you must simply copy the file RAMKEEPER on the 3.5" MKversion of the AW2 Expander disk to your GS/OS boot volume and place it in NLthe folder SYSTEM/DRIVERS. To do this you can use the GS/OS Finder, or the OMFiler (included in the AW2 Expander Disk), or one of your favorite file copy OMutilities. Once this is done you can reboot your system and the driver will NLbe loaded and installed. You should notice a slight increase in speed when PNaccessing the RamKeeper disk. You must be careful to follow the directions. KIIt is difficult to tell that the driver is actually installed because it runs transparantly.Copyright notice----------------OMThis documentation and the software (computer programs) described herein are JHcopyrighted by Applied Engineering with all rights reserved.
