Here is the goods from an Apple Document: To convert a IIe to an enhanced model, it must have an old revision B logic board or newer. If it has an old revision A board and it is not stamped "VAR", it is elegible for the free Rev.A to new rev.logic board swap under repair extension code OAA324. The enhancement kit consists of a new CD ROM 342-0304, EF ROM 342-0303, 65C02 cpu (338-6503), and Video ROM (either 342-0265 for English or 342-0306 for French). If double hi-res graphics are to be used, the jumper on the extended 80 column card must be connected. (However the new mini-extended 80 column cards don't have this jumper). I recently bought about 20 IIe enhancement kits and sold most of them to a gentleman in california, Charlies Appleseeds as I remember, if your interested I can look up the info and you can order one from him (it has everything, shrinkwrapped even!).
