The AO software is extremely particular about how the computer interface is set up, whether you're using an SSC or the GS modem port. In your case, using the GS, you should look in the Modem Port control panel (assuming that's where your wife's modem is plugged in), and check the settings. You might be able to just duplicate the settings from your GS, or use the following list (Items with stars in front of them are the defaults): * Device Connected: Modem * Line Length: Unlimited * Delete first LF after CR: No * Add LF after CR: No * Echo: No Buffering: Yes Baud: 2400 * Data/Stop Bits: 8/1 * Parity: None DCD Handshake: No DSR/DTR Handshake: No * XON/XOFF Handshake: No ProTERM is very forgiving; in fact, it completely ignores the modem port settings and communicates with the modem port directly, so you can have a high speed modem that works fine with ProTERM, but still keep your modem port set at 2400 to make AO happy. Notably, having Buffering turned off (No) will cause the AO software freeze, though other options may do it also. Hope this helps! :) Stephen Bennett, Co-Sysop StarPort BBS 703/560-9308 300-14.4K bps, v.32bis UUCP....: clarknet!gnh-starport!sbennett AOL: TFSP Steve InterNet: sbennett@gnh-starport.clark.net ARPA....: clarknet!gnh-starport!sbennett@nosc.mil Modem == Power
