I am using the 500c driver but can probably go back to the regular 500 driver. I changed the dips on the printer from the ones suggested in the Harmonie manual to the ones suggested from Jim. Things appear to be working just fine now. For those that wish to know how my dips are now set, here they are: A1 & A3 UP (rest of them DOWN) B1, B2 and B5 UP (rest all down) I am not sure why B1 (Text scale mode) has to be up but it works. Now I have a working configuration, I can experiment around a little more. I think that the key was really in the B2 switch. The down position is 75dpi and the up position is 300dpi. The software should handle this but maybe not?? In any rate, all is well. Thanks to everyone who tried to help me. I don't remember > exactly which dip switch to change, but I seem to think it may be 1-3. Joe, The HP DeskJet 500 switch you told me about is B-2 and it should be up for 300-dpi. (B-2 down is for 75 dpi and doesn't work correctly.) Note that other HP DeskJet 5xx models may have different switch locations. The Harmonie manual has settings for the "HP DeskJet" on page 10. But, this is for the DeskJet, NOT the DeskJet 500, a different printer. ~~~~~~~ ~~~~~~~~~~~ The Harmonie disk Read.Me.Text file (more recent information than what's in the printed manual) includes settings for the "HP DeskJet 500". It says to put switch B-2 down. Not so; this is the 75-dpi position. Jim Pittman - University of New Mexico - casa@unm.edu
