Should the CDA also say Appletalk Delay On (the default > is Off). I've tried both ways and can't see if one is better than > the other judging from dropped chars in PT3.1 (19200 baud direct > serial (null modem RTS/CTS) connection to HP workstation. The naming of signals, on-disk docs stack, and CDA/CDEV displays combine to supply a prime example of how to thoroughly confuse users. Basically, you've got a mess. This may help ... SW1 CDA/CDEV Label CDA*/CDEV* Readout *patched version OFF ON 1 x Cache Disable Off 2 x Joystick Disable On 3 x AppleTalk Delay Off 4 x Counter Delay On 5 x CPS Follow On 6 x (Zip Diasble "ON"= do not slow down during startup) 7 ---- (set for cache size) 8 ---- (set for cache size) The above (DIP switch SW1 1-6) are the factory default settings. It's the setup we use. (An AppleTalk user may want to set AppleTalk Delay switch SW1-3 to OFF.) SW2 OFF ON 1 x Slot 1 Fast 2 x Slot 2 Fast 3 x Slot 3 Fast 4 x Slot 4 Fast 5 x Slot 5 Fast 6 x Slot 6 Slow 7 x Slot 7 Fast 8 x Speaker Delay On The above (DIP switch SW2 1-8) settings are the ones we use. This is the same as the factory default except that SW1-2 is set ON. According to the on-disk docs stack, The "Speaker Delay" switch is set to "ON" to slow down the GS to normal speed during access to the speaker. So, 'naturally', setting the switch to "OFF" gives an "On" reading in the CDA/CDEV display. Rubywand
