So for his benefit, and that of anyone who might like it, this exe program (VOC3200) allows you to put a 3200 on screen from any shell (I tried orca & gno and it works fine). It is limited to only one type of 3200, and will display on the gs hardware or the VOC hardware if its installed in slot 3 with tool 33 available. If you have a voc but are watching from the GS video out, you'll get a scrambled picture (the same as when you watch a 3200 from the gs hardware on the VOC display) anyway, read the docs. cheers
