It works with both KIAppleWorks 2.x and 3.0. There are shorter versions for AW 2.x ONLY o to use ReportWriter.================Shorter Versions================HF Due to the drastic size difference in TimeOut ReportWriter, we have LJincluded two shorter versions. Other products in the TimeOut series would HFnot show suchn your ReportWriter disk. All of the KIfiles you need are on the 3 1/2" disk. If you are using the 5 1/4" disk, 4some of the example files may be on the back side.MK Be sure and go through the examples. It's an excellent method of learing howonfiguration with the new one you supply. General ReportWriter Info =============Example Files=============PN Many example files have been included oons disk). So, if you are having trouble with TimeOut after OMusing the Automatic Installer, go back and install it again on a new copy of MKAppleWorks. The other solution is to use the Manual Installer. This will Joverride any previous TimeOut cill look again for the "lost" drive. 3.5-Inch and Hard Drive OwnersPNWhen TimeOut is already installed, Automatic Installation will NOT change the NLTimeOut configuration from the first installation (things like the location OMof the applicatiar to exist unless there is a disk in the drive. If the NLInstaller does not recognize one of your drives, do this: put a disk in the KI"missing" drive and press Escape until you reach the title screen of the Linstallation program. The Installer wle-Escape to call up the first TimeOut -menu, use the TAB key to access the others. TimeOut Installation 5.25-Inch Drive OwnersNLThe TimeOut Installer checks how many disk drives you have. Some 5.25-disk MKdrives do not appeorts over 30 applications in the same directory. You can MKkeep all of your applications together and TimeOut will automatically load KIevery one of them. Applications beyond the 30th will load into a second OMTimeOut menu. After pressing Open-Appcompatible version. By KIthe way, there is no problem with the CheckMate card and AppleWorks 3.0, Csince the Expander is no longer needed to use the CheckMate card. TimeOut Installation Good News DepartmentLJTimeOut now supp3. All versions of Pinpoint@ 4. All versions of Applied Engineering's Desktop ExpanderCheckMate OwnersNLTimeOut is no longer compatible with CheckMate's Desktop Expander. Send us OMyour master TimeOut disk to replace it for an older, hjklmnopqrstuvwxyz{|}~ What's New in Repo TimeOut Compatibility MTimeOut is currently compatible with the following AppleWorks enhancements:* 1. All versions of Super MacroWorks# 2. All versions of AutoWorks" r AW N3.0 ONLY. The short versions are in subdirectories on the 3 1/2" disk only. JH If you wish to use one of the short versions, BE SURE to BACK UP your JHReportWriter orginal disk, otherwise you will permanently lose the long NLversion. Copy the file from the subdirectory for the AW version you wish to LJuse into the main directory of the backed up ReportWriter disk. This will FDoverwrite the long version. Then repeat the installation process as Ioutlined in your Reportwriter manual ustotals, each subtotal break will cause an advance to a new page.LJ Print definition - When defining a field, option #4, Print if not zero, 0allows you to print blanks instead of a zero. NL Function list - while entering formulas, press OpeM Printer options - In the Printer Options menu, option 10 will allow you to HFadvance to the top of the page every time a record is completed. This MKallows an easy method for printing letters or invoices on separate sheets. MKIf you are using subber 2.I @VAL converts a number in text form to a numeric value. The usage is NL @VAL(text number). For example, @VAL(Field1), would return the value of 2 #if Field1 contained the text "2".============New Features============O where Num1 is the number to convert to text and Num2 is KIthe number of fixed decimal places. If Num2=0, the appropriate amount of LJdecimal places will be used. For example, @NUM2TXT(Field1,2) would return 02.00 as text if Field1 contained the nums have been added. Num=3 is %dd/mm/yy and Num=4 is dd mmm, yyyy.O New Functions (cont.) MK @NUM2TXT pg 142 - requires an additional parameter. The correct usage is NL@Num2Txt(Num1,Num2) Text1 is MKfound inside Text2. Additionally, the number returned will be the starting NLposition of Text1 in Text2. These are:MK1. Reports may be gen uses 'lookup' instead of 'key' and 'search'.C5. Print when not equal to zero now works in the closing section.JH6. You are not allowed to delete a field that is used in a formula. The +formula must first be changed or deleted.E7. When dels 2.x and 3.0.D1. The extra form feed at the end of a report has been eliminated.92. You can now enter numeric types as keyboard entries.L3. The layout reference properly prints 'Left' as the default format type.F4. The layout referenceprint the report and Open-Apple-P to print the MKlayout reference. Change option #9 to "No" to use Open-Apple-P to generate Fand print the report and Open-Apple-L to print the layout reference.BThese improvements are for both AppleWorks versionon the 3 1/2" disk, using the Configuration option from Utilites on the NLTimeOut menu. The keystrokes for report generation and the layout reference ECmay be changed. One configuration option #9, leave as "Yes" to use NLOpen-Apple-G to generate and RPT(Text,Num), where Text is a KIsingle text character and Num is the number of times you wish Text to be 6repeated. For example, @RPT("*",5) results in *****.NL13. This one is for the short version only, found in the subdirectory named PNAW3.0 arguments must be in decimal form. When printing to the screen or to ;disk, any @CHR usages will be represented by a caret (^).JH12. A new function has been added, @RPT. It allows you to repeat a text LJcharacter within a formula. Its syntax is @tion option.OM11. A new function has been added, @CHR. It allows you to send control codes IGto the printer. For instance, to print Field1 in underlined mode to an MKImageWriter II, use this formula: @CONCAT(@CHR(27,88),Field1,@CHR(27,89)). KITheIG9. When switching disk drives in ReportWriter, the original AppleWorks ?default data disk is maintained upon returning to AppleWorks.KI10. Nulls may be posted to the data base. Use a null string for the "not /found" string using the configuras 0, not as an error. If you wish to trap divide-by-zero errors, use @IF to set the divisor.PN7. Numbers or dates may be used as keys for lookups. Postings still require a text key.98. Numbers or dates may be used for subtotal groupings.ice the new category, "Other". The two options replaced by the "Other" OMoption and the blank line suppression option can be found in the new "Other" option.LJ6. When using a calculation that causes a division by 0, that quotient is PNtreated aoportional spacing mode.<4. AppleWorks dates are correctly posted to the data base.NL5. If all entries on a line are blank, or not found, that whole line can be Moptionally suppressed. The option is offered on the 'Printer Options' menu.LJNoteen with an unlimited number NLof lines, however, you cannot scroll backwards. To use the scroll-backwards OMfeature you must generate to a text file; you are then still limited to 4096 lines.L3. ImageWriter II printers are no longer set to prerated directly to a printer without using text file. JHWhen generating directly to a printer, all horizontal compression codes Gsupported by AppleWorks work in ReportWriter. You can now use 12 cpi.NL2. Reports may be generated directly to the screting calculation fields, field numbering stays correct.NL8. There were instances of system lock-up while loading ReportWriter format PNfiles. This was the result of saving files containing calculation fields with NLblank formula entries. This is now fixed! Thanks to Jeff Jungblut at Beagle ;Bros Technical Support for pinning down this elusive bug.=9. @VAL now properly evaluates entries with leading spaces.>10. Invalid characters are no longer allowed in field names.JH11.
