It simulates the pressing of the open-apple and close-apple buttons to launch the internal diagnostics routine of such a computer.\ \ This device was given to me by Karl Grabbe, a former Apple employee at Cork, Ireland.\ \ It was used on the production process to check that the computers were running fine. The process includes the running of the diagnostics more of a long period of time.
