Subject: Why Ebay sellers should switch to Yahoo Auctions From: zzyzx97@earthlink.net (ZZyzx) Date: Sat, Dec 5, 1998 11Ç07(H Message-id: <3683738c.9533082@news.earthlink.net> I did and I'm glad. True eBay is a LOT better than Yahoo, but Yahoo is FREE to sellers. Thus you can list an item at what you want to get for it without having to pay a listing fee. You can get rid of your shills. You can also post items you are not sure will sell, and that are inexpensive. (without having to cough up $.25 each time you post as a minimum listing fee). You can also upload your pictires to their server and click on the file name to include automatically in any auction. And they get LOTS of hits. I had 250 hits in a week for some items (they show you a counter). There are 100,000 ongoing auctions. Don't let me give you the wrong idea....compared to eBay it is CRAP. They let anybody register and hide the personal info. There is no feedback for bad buyers (there is for sellers), so kids, pranksters, and deadbeats comprise 40-50-% of my winning bidders. Yet it is FREE to sellers and will be for a long time. Due to the rediculour run-up in eBay stock price, Yahoo Auctions (ONSALE actually) have started to make improvements, and I would guess it will be on a par with eBay in a few months (quality wise, not # of auctions). But as a seller it is HITS you want, not how many auctions are ongoing. You don't knnd the whole world to see your stuff to get your price. Another thing about eBay: if you ever have a problem with them, you will be rudely awakened. For some examples check out this URL: http://freedombyfaith.com/MARKET/Sabotaged.html
