One of my often used applics is Appleworks5.1 (classic). I either read or experienced a problem with AW printing when both the printer and a disk controller were accessed through the same slot. Since I use only appletalk network printers (slot 1) trying to use a disk drive in slot 1 (print to disk) was a problem. So I sacrificed access to the 5.25 drive which I rarely used and went to the s5 and s6 controllers. Everything is cool, except no p8 /ram5 drive. I could move to slot 4, but since this is a Rom1, I think this needs to be the mouse slot or else PT3.1 would lose access to the mouse. I'm guessing here, because I don't think I tried that. I think there are some problems accessing the mouse on a Rom1 if slot4 is set to 'your card'. I forget the exact details. Giving up /ram5 is no problem in comparison! I guess the IIGS needs more slots and ports ;-) --Steve -- --Steve (apple2pd@ground.ecn.uiowa.edu)
