There is a freeware ProDOS-8 application called ZIPPY that controls all the card settings. This may not be the most convenient option, however. The software supplied with the card includes a CDA, graphical Control Panel, INIT (for GS/OS to adjust the settings automatically at boot time), and an application (which configures the INIT). There is also a HyperStudio stack (I think) which has installation instructions. I don't know if anyone has posted this software on any of the FTP sites. (This is debatably a violation of the copyright, but the software is useless without the card.) > Just for Fun, > I have a AppleShare Server 3.0.3 running on my MacSE and booting with no > ZipCard On _MYGS_ works fine (: > > I would like to try getting my GS with his Zip to boot from my > AppleShare Server 3.0.3 before I reinstall it in the guys GS for his son > to play games with ): You can't boot over the network with the ZIP GS enabled, unless you turn on the AppleTalk Delay option, which is a Bad Idea (TM). See Todd's explanation (which you quoted) as to why this is a bad idea. If the AppleTalk Delay is turned off, you must have the ZIP disabled by default (SW1-6 OFF) in order for it to boot over AppleTalk. You could then use ZipInit to turn the card back on again automatically, as long as you are booting System 6.0.1. > _HISGS_ > ----- > GS Rom 1 > 4M > 1 3.5 > System 6.0.1 > Slot (7) Apple HS SCSI card Version # =(unknown) You'll have to move the SCSI card to another slot if you intend to have this IIgs accessing AppleTalk (or was that just a temporary play on your IIgs?) > I am not SURE if there is any differance between the ZipGS version 1.0.1 > and version 1.0.2 in regards to the DipSwitches layout/funtions. I don't know what the differences are between 1.0.1 and 1.0.2, but I'm pretty sure the DIP switches are the same. -- David Empson dempson@actrix.gen.nz Snail mail: P.O.
