I too have just recently resurrected my GS, and thanks to the support of the people of this newsgroup it has been pretty easy. You can find a copy of the newsgroups FAQs at ftp://ground.ecn.uiowa.edu/2/apple2/Faqs and a couple of other places. Basically, all you need is a null modem cable or a serial cable and a null modem adapter. The fastest approach would be to use a high speed modem cable from you GS to the PC via a null modem cable from the PC or the null modem adapter. A regular modem cable from the GS would work, but I understand that it limits your transfer rate. I personally use a high speed modem cable from my GS through my blue Laplink cable to my PC. I already had this stuff so it was the cheapest way to go. Once you have the two physically connected, you need to get them talking to each other. On the GS, I use ProTerm and on the PC I use QModem Pro, but Hyperterminal that comes with Windows 9x and NT works fine. I like to set ProTerm up to automatically receive using ZModem, and then I can just drag and drop things from the PC to the GS through QModem. This has been a much faster method then swapping 3.5 which is what I was originally doing. I hope to get my AppleTalk stuff going so that I can get a faster more user friendly connection going, but for now this method has been more than adequate for me. More detailed instruction can be found in the FAQ. Even how to build your own cable.
