Very informative. I'm matching this one with the same step by step info outline on conversions of any music or sound file over to the GS for OverSampler play from the Mac using The OuickTime Pro "Movie Player". I'll do my best to post it here in the next day or so. With respect to MP3, MPEG, Audio CD tracks, MOD, MIDI and so on...they can be ported with full stereo, SRS, DolbySurround, RSS, Holophonic, Octaphonic, Transaural and/or Binaural, etc. In short...any dimensional sound coding, panning or sound scape shift location within a 360 global audio listening field. A couple of examples are available for download and listening from the folder noted below. ftp://tarnover.dyndns.org//cabi/Music.and.Sound/OVERSAMPLER.MUSIC.FILES/ Download and listen to; Bend.4D.SHK and Brain.4D.SHK, both with RSS (Roland Space System) processing. I didn't use your suggestion of sample rate assignments to the files I converted, but they sound as clear to me as the original did on the Mac in either 8 or 16 bit. I manually assigned what I considered as the correct aux. value for OverSampler to play the file at by listening to it as the original file with OverSampler and made a direct file type conversion from the Mac data file: QT Pro 'Movie Player' .wav file to IIgs ProDOS raw binary file with the correct play rate assigned to the files aux. value using Seven Hill's 'Disk Access' NDA. There are other methods/programs for such if you wanted to work from P8 with the file change and aux. value/play rate also. Karl Bunker's File-a-Trix CDA, worked good for me. If I recall correctly, Scott Gamon (Scott G.) first made such conversions with a few music/song files he archived and uploaded to the Apple2 ftp site "Ground" a year or two ago. Supertimer, rest assured your post and article will promptly be added to the Music.and.Sound folder of the GS WorldView Nov99 issue. I'd suspect it will also be included in the CSA2 FAQ's also. I have a question for you to answer please: Is it possible to convert the MP3 and/or other music, sound, audio files such as; MIDI, MOD, S3M, OctaMed, Audio CD tracks, etc. from the PC platform to the GS - as you outlined in your post and article, with the inclusion of stereo and other special sound scape - dimensional coding, for listening with OverSampler as such on the GS? Looking forward to your answer on this, as I've never explored the options of such with a PC and have only used the Mac. Cheers, Tom
