The version of Modem MGR contained in this upload support VT100/220 emulation
and X- Y- and Zmodem uploads.  Y- and Zmodem uploads are not covered in the
chapter in the manual concerning file transfers, but instead can be found in the
file MMGR.VER.1.6 .  It's recommended that you read this 1st in order to know
where this version differs from the manual.


In preparing the manual for this upload, certain concessions and conventions had
to be made in order to be able to put it in text mode, and make it usable by the
many different text viewers and word processors in use.

Depending on your word processor, try setting both left and right margins to 0.0
in order to retain proper indentation of the paragraphs.

1) In the Table of Contents and the Index, individual page numbers are not
notated, since it would be impossible to know how each individual system would
paginate the text.  In the index, each subject is keyed to it's chapter only.

2) where the open-apple and solid-apple (or option key on the GS) are noted in
the printed form of the manual, oa- and sa- are used.

3) word descriptions for the arrow keys are substituted for the symbols found in
the manual.

4) in some cases, wher the manual referred to a specific page number, the
wording was changed to reflect the nature of this txt format.

No other changes or deviations from the manual were made.


In chapter 6, there is a notation that the RAM drive normally associated with
S3, D2 is lost when reverse scroll is used.  In the supplied ProDOS version of
Modem.MGR contained in this upload, the RAM drive has been sucessfully used on a
//e equipted with a RamWorks III card when using the ramdrive software supplied
with the card.

Also, the manual suggests you turn an accelerator card "off" when using this
program.  A //e equipted with an 8-mhz ZipChip was used sucessfully with this
program, when the serial card slot was set to "fast."  With the slot set to
normal speed, ZMODEM transfers were unreliable.
