This book explains about drivers and how they interface with Prodos. There are two ways to handle this. As noted, you could add a ROM with the driver encoded in it along with the standard II interface. Besides the Prodos info, you will also need the info for slot cards. Another option with block devices is to design a smart port device. IIRC, the 3.5 unidisk falls in this category. With this method and an external device, practically every II could use it. Even the 2c. Now, this would be worth selling. Alternatively, create a simple I/O for the connector and add a driver that loads at boot time. This is less preferable as P8 doesn't have any extra room for drivers that work with all P8 applications. To get around this, you would have to replace the /RAM driver as many ram cards do or replace the slot 6 driver similar to the Apple Oasis SLINK program. Neither of these are elegant solutions, but may be the only choice if you have no way to make a ROM chip. -- Thank you for your time and interest. I hope it was helpful or at least interesting.
