The card is a sound input digitizer (AD converter) which was included in HyperStudio packages. You can plug in a microphone or other sound source and record to memory using various sound input utilities. There is a socket to pass through the J25 signals to a Stereo Card and a power cable which goes to the 12VDC pins located at the back of the motherboard. > The other is a memory card but I'm not sure how much memory it has. There is some info about various other configurations at http://home.swbell.net/rubywand/Csa2HDWHACK.html#013 . > > Also, I should have picked this up by now but what are the benefits to > having a ROM 03 board, compared to a ROM 00 or 01? There are discussions comparing the ROM-01 and ROM 3 at http://home.swbell.net/rubywand/A2FAQs5MAINHALL.html#013 and http://home.swbell.net/rubywand/Csa2HDWHACK.html#020 . *** Need to correct this. The card's function is to supply a sound input socket plus some amplification and shaping for the signal which goes to IIgs circuitry which takes care of A/D conversion. Rubywand
