Welcome to the revived Apple II Archive at apple2.caltech.edu! This file describes the upload policy for the Apple II Archive. It is current as of 24 February 1996. Space limitations are no longer a problem. However, I still ask that files be uploaded in a compressed format, for ease of processing. The preferred formats are .shk/.sdk (ShrinkIt Archives) and .bxy (ShrinkIt Archives in Binary II Wrapper). Files compressed with UNIX "compress" (.Z suffix) are also allowed, for UNIX-specific uploads. Because all these filetypes use 8-bit data, BINARY mode _must_ be set before uploading (use the "bin" command at the ftp prompt). All file submissions must include a separate text file describing their contents, or, if this is not possible, e-mail must be sent to me describing the contents of the submission. Any undocumented submissions will be immediately deleted. One important change to the archive is that the incoming folder is now write- only. Since the archive is now on my personal machine, I can tend to it more easily, and the NEW.FILES directory should be updated weekly (if not more often). Thank you for your cooperation, and enjoy the archive! Daniel M. Zimmerman dmz@cco.caltech.edu 28 August 1995
