This is the third release of the Apple IIgs port of the text screen based RPG, Omega 0.80.2. This release supports the Second Sight card in text mode, giving you a nicer screen to look at and supporting the use of colors to distinguish different monsters, type of terrain, etc. The game is somewhat similar to Ultima, or other classic computer RPG's in that you have a character who goes around the countryside fighting monsters and collecting loot. There are dungeons, castles, and things like that. The main difference between Omega and something like Ultima, is that since Omega was written in the 80's for a UNIX environment, everything is done on the text screen. The games uses different characters to display the map, dungeons, etc. In this release, the support for the Second Sight card allows Omega to use different colors as well as different characters. It looks very nice on a VGA monitor, although even on an Applecolor RGB monitor it looks better with the Second Sight card, than without, due to the use of color. Archive maintainers, please remove earlier releases of this game that you may have. Also, I want to be clear that this is not an Apple IIgs version of the old tank game, Omega. The fact that it has the same name is unfortunate, but oh well... -Sheldon Simms
