If you have an ImageWriter II with a color ribbon you can use Quick-Setup to select a color before going to Quick-Dumper. Color signs look interesting. For example you might try ROTATING the sign and kicking up the vertical magnification a notch or two. Remember that you can always get back to the standard values by toggling back and fortn. 2. Crop the area around your sign as closely as possible to reduce printing time to a minimum. This will also make JUSTIFY more accurate. 3. NOTE!: If no joystick is plugged in, 255 is displayed, hence Paddle 2 & 3 displays read 255 if not used and Button 3 will displa your favorite arcade game. If after some routine "abuse" the display still reads within 5 counts of where you adjusted it, your joystick's in pretty fine shape! To test the joystick buttons, simply press themry and get as close to 127-128 that you can. Joysticks take quite a beating in game playing. To see how the center adjustment holds up, slap the handle around a bit, just like you were in the heat of battle in =============================================================== Many (but not all!) self-centering joysticks have a means of adjusting or "tuning in" the center value. Ideally a self-centering joystick should read 127 or 128 in its center at rest position. In reality there is room for error. Most programs will easily tolerate on in Paddle 1. As you move the joystick through the extremes of travel in each direction, the numbers should increment from zero through 255. Some joysticks are "self-centering". A self-centering joystick "sre tested in an identical fashion, for simplicity sake we will only refer to joysticks in the following discussion. If only one joystick is connected, left/right motion is displayed in Paddle 0 and up/down motidles at the same time. Most people only have one joystick or pair of paddles hooked up at one time, however, since hooking up two at a time requires some sort of external adapter. Since joysticks and paddles areally just a pair of paddles mechanically linked together, each axis of joystick travel is displayed next to the title "PADDLE". The Apple is actually capable of handling two joysticks or two pairs of game pad and press RETURN. 5. Follow the directions that appear on the screen. 3.2 Joystick/Paddle Testing Select #1 from the Main Menu to get to the Joystick and Paddle Testing screen. Since joysticks are Applesoft. 3. The "Open Apple" on the keyboard is identical to Button 0; the "Closed Apple" or "Option" key is identical to Button 1. 3.3 Mouse Testing Select #2 from the Main Menu to get to the Mouse Tester display screen. As you move your mouse and press the mouse button, you will see the display change to reflect your actions. The initial values shown are the power on "lue in each axis.
